In the Netherlands, yields are generally between 2500 \u20133000 kg\/ha. The crop can be grown in very extensive systems and harvested using combines.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Oil flax contains approximately 40% oil (fiber flax seed 25%). This oil contains six types of oil but is typically known for its extremely high percentage of unsaturated fatty acids (&gt;60%), also known as omega-3 oil. Omega-3 is very health beneficial and is widely used in the food industry (dressings, margarine), in medication, animal feeds, and in the non-food sector as a component of linoleum, flooring and paint for example.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The core business of van de Bilt seeds and flax bv is breeding new varieties for oil flax cultivation.
