PROCESSING SEEDS

A good basis for healthy seed production

The Dutch polder soils are ideal for seed production. The climate is open and breezy, and the young clay soils are fertile. As well as growing crops for seed production in France, we take advantage of these favorable conditions to grow healthy propagating material. The seeds are grown and harvested under the careful monitoring of our cultivation advisors and processed at the factory in Sluiskil. The large drying and storage facilities are inspected by our quality assurance department. After the seeds have been cleaned, they are treated and bagged. Treatment and packing can also be done in line with customer specifications. Seed production is inspected by the General Dutch Inspection Service (NAK). This organization certifies the seed before it can be sold and attaches the relevant lead seals.

We specialize in the production and processing of fine, oil yielding seeds. We have developed our own harvesting machines that can remove seeds from the flax on the stalk. This method guarantees consistent, stable quality and high quantities of seeds. Using reliable, good seed is the foundation for a successful crop of flax.

Seed trading is one of our key activities. We are a successful global player in propagating material for fiber flax and oil flax. “Customers who are successful with our products ensure the success of Van de Belt seeds and flax by”. Inspired by this motto, we have acquired a stable and pre-eminent market position.
